Andy Burnham seems terrified of addressing the migrant invasion, I suspect, because he hasn’t a bloody clue what to do about it, writes GB News columnist

It took a literal migrant invasion of Spain last week - 60,000 of them from Morocco swarmed into a small enclave called Ceuta - to shake the robotic Andy Burnham out of his ludicrous immigration mantra: “Our plan is working”. No, your plan isn’t working, matey. It’s a bloody shambles borne out by the fact more than 2,000 more illegals have arrived in the two weeks you’ve been Prime Minister and all of those will be granted asylum, then given homes and benefits paid for by us.

But when I say Burnham’s been shaken up by what’s happened in Ceuta, I obviously don’t mean to the point where he’s actually DONE anything about the migrant crisis. Because action doesn’t appear to be on Mr Eyelash’s agenda. He TALKS a lot about what he’s going to do, but he never actually says how or when he’s going to do it.

Since walking through the doors of No10 all he’s actually done is cut bus fares (which Labour put up two years ago) and a piddling bit of VAT on electricity bills.

But at least the Spanish invasion got him actually talking about the migrant invasion here, which he seems terrified of addressing largely, I suspect, because he hasn’t a bloody clue what to do about it.

And if he has – why doesn’t he tell us because we’re gagging to hear. This was his response after the 60,000-strong invasion of Spain last Thursday: “We have to deal with immigration head on rather than play politics with the issue.”

And who the Hell’s been playing politics with the issue? His own incompetent Government, none of whom actually want to stop illegal immigration because they’re 100 per cent in favour of it. As, I suspect, is Andy. “It’s about changing the whole approach,” he said, “And putting in place those building blocks.”

Are the building blocks he’s talking about the £665million we’ve just given the French to stop the boats, but whose police said last week their orders are just to let everyone cross?

Is it the £480million we gave them between 2023 and 2026, which only served to jack up the numbers of people coming here. The fact is we’ve given the French the thick end of a billion quid only to discover that the instructions to the gendarmes on the beaches are to stand back and do nothing.

Burnham must know by now that every single migrant’s hotel and processing costs to the British people are £47,000 a year. That’s £47,000 for every single migrant every year - and we’re sick of it.

And just think about what happens when the Moroccan invasion of Spain happens again – and it will – and the next 60,000 who cross start making their way here to Benefits Britain, which they see as El Dorado. Is Andy ready for that? Because he damn well needs to be.

Reform is quite rightly going nuts, saying if the military can be deployed in Spain to move out the migrants, why can’t it be here. Why indeed?

Reform also says if it gets into Government, it will launch the biggest military operation on the Channel since World War Two to end the migrant crossings.

And whether Man of the People Burnham knows it or not, THIS is exactly what the majority of Britons want to hear. Not the bleeding-heart liberals obviously and not the hard Leftists who care more about illegal migrants than they do about hard-working Britons. I’m talking about the decent, ordinary people who are sick to the back teeth of having their communities invaded by military-aged young men whose culture is dangerously alien to ours and who think they can commit crimes with impunity. And the fact is they can. Because we learn today that Britons are paying to house 1,500 foreign criminals who this Government doesn’t have the guts to deport. Imagine how that looks to those illegals in France queuing to board a dinghy for Britain? Because what they’re hearing is “Commit a crime – and you STILL get a free house.”

Nigel Farage says he’ll order the Navy to tow the boats back to France. Reform’s Home Affairs boss, Zia Yusuf, says: “Nigel Farage will order his Majesty’s Royal Navy to ensure that not a single unauthorised vessel crossing the English Channel makes it to the shores of the UK.”

And that message will be cheered in every corner of the British Isles. Not because people are racist, not because they lack compassion but because they know the people coming here aren’t fleeing war or persecution – they just want a better life. And while we all get that – these illegals cannot have their better lives at the expense of ours.

We cannot be expected to pay for houses, homes, healthcare and the education of people who will never contribute anything worthwhile to this country and will cost us billions in benefits for decades to come.

We can’t afford the benefits bill for our people, so we sure as Hell can’t be expected to subsidise great swathes of sub-Saharan Africa as well.

But that’s exactly what we are doing and will continue to do if Burnham doesn’t get a grip on our borders. As Spain has discovered to its cost, borders are only as secure as their leader’s willingness to defend them. Those Moroccans came because Spain’s idiot socialist Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, just gave amnesty to over a MILLION illegal migrants - the message being: “Come illegally, and you can stay.”

So, in effect, those one million migrants were rewarded by the Spanish Government for illegally entering Spain. But that’s exactly what’s happening here in Britain too. There are no deterrents. Migrants coming here know that with the help of a dodgy UK lawyer - and there are plenty of them - a house, healthcare, education and a lifetime on benefits await.

Hell, they can even kill people and rape women, and STILL they don’t get deported.

Farage and Reform say they will defend our borders to the death. Kemi says she will too. The only people who are refusing to do it are the people running the country, the same people who hide behind the ECHR and its stupid clauses which allow those who shouldn’t be here to stay.

Europe’s borders are crumbling. Just look at those Hellish scenes from Ceuta – because THAT’S what a borderless world looks like.

And unless Burnham and all those dopey socialist European leaders get their fingers out, what happened in Ceuta will soon be coming to a beach near you!
