The Duke of Sussex has since returned to Montecito with Meghan, Archie and Lilibet
Prince Harry personally requested to appear on former England rugby star Joe Marler’s comedy podcast, it has emerged.
The revelation came to light in a new video titled "We Invited Prince Harry. He Actually Turned Up," which showed Mr Marler and his co-host, comedian Jake Bhardwaj, preparing for the high-profile interview at the NEC in Birmingham.
The duo were gearing up for a special edition of their hit show, Joe Marler Will See You Now, ahead of the upcoming Invictus Games.
During the behind-the-scenes footage, Mr Bhardwaj opened by stating that they were one year away from the Invictus Games and preparing to speak with someone "very special".
Mr Marler, visibly stunned, admitted he felt unable to say the name out loud, calling the situation "bonkers."
When Mr Bhardwaj joked that the royal visitor was "not f***ing Voldemort" and would not just appear out of nowhere, Mr Marler finally announced the guest: "It's Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex. The duke of my county."
As the two hosts brainstormed interview topics, Mr Marler suggested asking the duke: "When was the last time you s*** yourself?"
Mr Bhardwaj supported the bold line of questioning, arguing that they should not change the usual chaotic nature of their podcast.
It was at this moment Mr Bhardwaj dropped the bombshell: "I don't think we should change anything that we do on the podcast, namely because he's the one who had the idea to come on."
Mr Marler immediately agreed with the sentiment, replying: "Yeah. So give him both barrels. Has he got armpit hair?"
Once the royal sat down in the studio, the conversation immediately veered into comedic territory.
In the episode itself, the Duke of Sussex participated in the show's customary "intake questionnaire".
LATEST ROYAL DEVELOPMENTS
He shocked the hosts by revealing his full formal name: "Henry Charles Albert David," alongside his title and the unexpected nickname "Jakey."
The light-hearted banter continued when Mr Marler asked Prince Harry what people most frequently get wrong about him.
When a surprised Mr Marler questioned whether people actually get that wrong, the duke replied: "Yeah. People think I'm ginger, but I'm more sunset, like auburn."
The remark prompted laughter from the production crew, causing the duke to jokingly complain about being bullied at school with names like "carrot-top," before chuckling: "I'm going to need therapy after this."
The episode also delved into more serious ground as the duke was joined by his close friend and former Invictus competitor JJ Chalmers.
The pair discussed trauma, grief, and the role Prince Harry's children play in keeping him grounded.
The show concluded with a cultural quiz and a nostalgic singalong.
