Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have surfaced looking cheerful together in Athens, Greece, amid ongoing speculation about the state of their marriage.

Greek art curator and independent consultant Aliki Lampropoulos posted a selfie with the couple on Instagram, in which both Beatrice, 37, and Mr Mapelli Mozzi, 42, were grinning broadly.

Beatrice appeared without make-up in a denim shirt, while her husband wore a white T-shirt adorned with friendship bracelets.

Ms Lampropoulos opted not to include a written caption but added a bee emoji, a nod to Beatrice's nickname.

The Greek previously worked alongside Beatrice on the host committee for The Charge charity gala in London in 2014.

The exact date the photograph was taken remains unclear, though the pair are understood to have been on holiday.

The sighting comes just days after Mr Mapelli Mozzi broke with his usual practice by not posting a public tribute to mark the couple's sixth wedding anniversary on July 17.

The property developer spent time in Palm Beach, Florida earlier this year for professional commitments, while Beatrice has largely stayed out of the public eye.

Their most recent joint outing before the Athens photograph was at Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling's wedding in the Cotswolds on June 6, where they presented a united front alongside other members of the Royal Family.

Friends of the couple have pushed back firmly against speculation about their marriage.

Speaking to Hello! in March, one said: "The only thing Bea and Mr Mapelli Mozzi are navigating are their busy jobs and looking after their children!"

The same source insisted: "Recent reports that things aren't good between them are not true at all.

"Things are great between them and the only distance between them recently has been physical distance because of work!"

Both Beatrice and her younger sister Princess Eugenie have been notably absent from major royal calendar fixtures this year, missing Royal Ascot, the Easter service, and Wimbledon.

Eugenie, who is expecting her third child, joined Beatrice in Vienna in June for the Schwarzenberg family wedding, where the elder sister wore a floor-length gown by The Vampire's Wife.

Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi married in 2020 after the pandemic forced them to scale back their original plans.

Beatrice is also stepmother to Wolfie, Mr Mapelli Mozzi's son from his previous relationship with architect Dara Huang.
