Get access to on-demand programmes, streaming platforms, gaming, and more

Vodafone TV is meant to bring together live television, on-demand programmes, streaming platforms, and gaming, so you can move between them without constantly changing inputs or reaching for another device.

Powered by Netgem on the Pleio platform, you don't need to worry about a satellite dish or aerial like you would with traditional TV. Instead, the service connects to your TV through your internet connection, meaning you can access your channels and streaming services without having to arrange an installation or have additional equipment fitted to your home.

Here's everything you can expect to receive from this new plug-and-play box.

Despite its small size, it packs a punch with 4K picture quality, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos sound built right in, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage for your apps.

It also comes with Netflix and HBO Max bundled in from the start, plus you can add other streaming favourites on top. There are over 200 channels to browse through, including everything available on Freely's live and on-demand service.

If you're a gamer — more than 300 cloud games are accessible via a Bluetooth controller or your phone for no extra cost. Several different types of games are available, like puzzles or car races. Vodafone says they'll regularly be refreshing the options so you'll always have something new to look forward to playing.

The TV box also comes with full Google Play Store access, just like the Pleio, so you can download thousands more apps like Prime Video and Spotify.

And if you're always on the move, Vodafone TV comes with its own companion app, which lets you keep watching wherever you go. If you started a film on the sofa but need to head out, you can pick up where you left off on your phone.

If you have multiple people in the household, you can also set up your own profiles, similar to Netflix. This is ideal if you want the home page to recommend the best entertainment geared to your preferences. Additionally, you can take a mini personality questionnaire upon setting up your profile, so Vodafone TV can begin recommending the best shows and movies straight away.

The app syncs your profiles, recommendations, saved favourites, and even your gaming progress across all your devices. So whether you're on the train or waiting at the dentist, your entertainment is meant to follow you seamlessly.

If you're worried about children accessing age-inappropriate shows or movies, there are also parental controls you can toggle on for them. A restricted show or movie will show up with a padlock over top — illustrating that it can't be accessed.

Vodafone TV launches in October and will be open to both new and existing customers who have a home broadband, 5G broadband, or mobile plan.

The company said it will continue adding new updates, channels, games, and more after its launch.
