Your WhatsApp is getting a fresh batch of improvements across a range of devices.

The Meta-owned chat app is releasing upgrades for your car, iPad, PDF documents, and more.

WhatsApp shared in a blog post: "WhatsApp should work wherever you do. That's why we've been working with partners to make it fit seamlessly with the other apps you use and across your devices – so that WhatsApp can keep up with how you actually live."

Each of these features is gradually rolling out to everyone now. If you don't see them yet, they could appear within the next few weeks.

Here's everything you can expect to get from these new improvements.

1. Sign up for a WhatsApp account on iPad

You can now create a new WhatsApp account directly from the iPad app. This means you'll no longer need to link your phone. It's ideal if you don't want to worry about juggling two devices during setup.

WhatsApp only just made an appearance on iPads last year. It brings everything you've come to know on your mobile to a much larger screen.

You can make video and audio calls with up to 32 people at once, share your screen, and use your iPad's front and back cameras to take photos.

Unlike with your mobile, you can also multitask on WhatsApp for iPad with Stage Manager. This will let you use Split View or Slide Over to view multiple apps at once.

2. An improved experience on CarPlay and Android Auto

Using WhatsApp in your car? WhatsApp says you'll now be able to respond to messages, make calls, and see your call history hands-free. This is ideal so you can keep your eyes on the road while still talking to your loved ones during a commute.

According to government data, mobile phone use contributed to 340 collisions, including 20 fatalities in 2024. By being hands-free, this could prevent potential future accidents.

3. Open PDFs directly on WhatsApp

If you've ever tried to open a PDF document on WhatsApp, then you know the pain of having to download it first and navigate through your device just to open it.

Adobe wrote in a blog post: "Adobe and WhatsApp are bringing Acrobat-powered PDF experiences directly into WhatsApp Web and Windows, so you can open, review, and act on your documents right in your chat without needing to download files or switch tools."

You're now able to make light edits such as annotating and highlighting right in the chat. It's great for quickly accessing the document on the spot and sending it right back to a colleague. This feature is available to access on the online site and your desktop app.

4. Share your music

You can now share your music directly from Apple Music and Spotify to your WhatsApp status. Similar to Instagram, your WhatsApp status is a feature that lets you share temporary text, photos, videos, GIFs, and voice updates that automatically disappear after 24 hours.

Music is now another handy addition to express yourself in the moment.
