The former Prime Minister has called for serious changes within the political world

Liz Truss has claimed Britain is on autopilot to destruction, speaking to GB News as she prepares for the Conservative Political Action Conference Great Britain.

The former Prime Minister joined Jacob Rees-Mogg ahead of the first-ever meeting of CPAC Great Britain next week.

She told the People’s Channel: “CPAC is trying to bring together all of the elements of right, people who believe in liberty, sovereignty, people who believe in free speech, who want to control our borders, and those who believe in wanting to fight the establishment.

“It is about galvanising the right. We need huge pressure; we know how powerful the establishment is, and it is about bringing people together to understand how deep the problem goes.”

The event is set to see Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, Ms Truss and Mr Rees-Mogg deliver speeches at the talk, as well as members from political parties across Europe and United States attending the inaugural event.

She continued: “We know that we face a hugely powerful force, we need a fighting force that is going to take them on.”

CPAC began with Ronald Regan delivering a keynote speech in America in 1974 and was founded by the American Conservative Union and Young Americans for Freedom.

It has since travelled to Australia, Brazil, Japan, and Poland before it sets down in the UK for the first time next week.

Ms Truss continued: “We desperately need it, we need more than just the political parties to solve Britain’s problem.

“It is becoming clear that our problems are very deep and they need a lot of work to take on and solve.

“This country is on autopilot to destruction. We have a system that is hellbent on net-zero and expensive energy, two-tier policing, and we know that it is a huge problem, and people are waking up to that.

“This is about what Britain stands for, and number one is Britain itself, our own sovereignty.”

When asked about the recent scandal surrounding Mr Farage, the former Conservative leader said: “There is a left-wing playbook now. It is no longer just about fighting at the ballot box. It is now about using ‘lawfare’, it’s about using debanking and political violence.

“The authorities do not trust the electorate; they believe in the experts running the country, and they no longer trust the people.

“The same playbook was used against Boris Johnson, it is quite difficult to put a hand on who is behind this, but everyone seems to agree to the playbook.

She went on to say it is “too early to tell” if Mr Farage’s actions over recent days have done detrimental damage to the Right.

She said: “I think it is wrong that elected members of Parliament are able to be removed via committee. I think they should be there at the behest of the electorate, and that is how they should be voted out.

“The whole system we have in Britain is wrong, and elected MPs are subject to unnecessary bureaucracy.

“Whether or not Nigel’s actions were a tactical mistake, is difficult to tell, orthodox ways of doing things for those on the right have not been working.

“What we now have in this country is a major problem with our system, that we need to find a solution to!”
