The 25-year-old received an outpouring of support from Coronation Street co-stars following her final scenes

Beth Nixon has bid farewell to Coronation Street following the conclusion of her character's harrowing storyline on the ITV soap.

The 25-year-old actress portrayed PE teacher Megan Walsh, who first appeared on the cobbles in November 2025 as an athletics coach.

Her character developed a disturbing relationship with 15-year-old student Will Driscoll, which viewers quickly recognised as sexual grooming.

The teenager's family grew increasingly concerned about the pair's closeness and eventually contacted police.

Following months of abuse depicted on screen, Megan faced and received a five-year prison sentence for her crimes, marking Ms Nixon's departure from the long-running programme.

The actress marked her exit by posting a series of behind-the-scenes photographs on Instagram, accompanied by a humorous message about her on-screen alter ego.

"Megan, you're a cow, and I'll miss you like a hole in the head," the actress wrote, before adding: "Thank you thank you thank you to every single person at @coronationstreet you've changed my life! Peace out."

The images included snaps showing her with fake injuries from dramatic scenes, as well as pictures alongside fellow cast members.

Coronation Street represents one of Ms Nixon's first major television roles, having previously performed in theatre productions during her college years.

Ms Nixon's co-stars were quick to shower her with praise in the comments section.

Catherine Tyldesley, known for playing Eva Price, responded: "We love you! Outstanding!!!!"

Jude Riordan, who portrays Sam Blakeman, simply wrote: "Yes Beth."

Farrel Hegarty, who plays Lou Michaelis, commented: "Amazing you are."

Olivia Frances Brown, who stars as Jodie Ramsey, added: "SMASHED IT!!!"

Viewers also expressed their appreciation for Ms Nixon's handling of the sensitive material.

One fan wrote the storyline resonated personally, having faced a similar situation, thanking the actress for bringing such an important issue to the screen with authenticity.

Ms Nixon's departure comes amid a wave of cast exits from Coronation Street this year as the ITV soap undergoes significant changes.

Claire Sweeney is set to leave her role as Cassie Plummer to join the touring production of Annie, while Mollie Gallagher is departing after more than six years as Nina Lucas to star in a stage adaptation of The Silence of the Lambs.
