GB News host Michelle Dewberry was forced to intervene to cool the firey exchange
Laila Cunningham and Michael Gove clashed in a furious row which erupted over a discussion of Andy Burnham appointing John Healey as Chancellor.
The Reform UK London Mayor candidate slammed the appointment as an example of the “political elite gliding from role to role”, which the former Conservative minister blasted as “hypocritical nonsense”.
GB News host Michelle Dewberry was forced to intervene after the debate devolved into a shouting match between the pair.
Criticising the appointment of Mr Healey, Ms Cunningham began: “What people feel is that ordinary people have to fight for everything.
“Whereas there's this political elite that glide from role to role... where failure is not a hindrance, actually, to moving up the career ladder.”
She added that anyone who had served in the last Labour Government should not return to a senior ministerial position.
Incensed, Mr Gove exclaimed: “You tried to stand as a Conservative candidate in 2024.
“When it didn't work out, you went and joined another party.”
The former Cabinet minister then accused Reform of hypocrisy for portraying itself as outside the political establishment.
“This whole Reform schtick that you are somehow separate, elevated, above the sordid politics of everyone else is hypocritical nonsense.
“You are a career politician... It's perfectly okay, Laila, to be a career politician. But you should be honest about it.”
“I think we can see a prime example of the uniparty at play,” Ms Cunningham hit back.
“Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. This is another Reform talking point,” Mr Gove cut in.
The Reform councillor questioned: “Are you going to let me speak? Are you just going to yell?”
“Well, let's have more of it. Let's have more of the talking points from your phone, Layla.”
The fiery exchange was brought to a close by Michelle, who told her guests: “Excuse me, I don't do shouting in this studio.”
