Sarah Ferguson has secretly been staying in Portugal to support Princess Eugenie after the birth of her third child earlier this week, it has been reported.

Ms Ferguson has been living in exile, following her removal from Royal Lodge in January 2026.

She was discovered staying at a 2,000-a-night resort in Austria by The Sun in April, and, following this, is said to have been given the keys to long-term pal Paddy McNally's lavish eight-bedroom chalet in Switzerland.

Mr McNally died last month, raising questions whether the former duchess could be in line for a slice of his fortune amassed during a successful career in motorsport.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the former Duchess of York has now made the trip to Portugal, following the birth of her sixth grandchild.

Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday: "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.

"The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news."

The 36-year-old princess is now said to be recovering in her £3.6million villa in the Portuguese village of Melides, near Lisbon - where locals have told the outlet that Ms Ferguson has been regularly visiting, and enjoying meals out.

"Eugenie and her husband are regulars and have been here quite a few times with friends," one waiter at the nearby O Fadista restaurant said.

"Their mothers have also been here several times, but I’ve never seen the father, Andrew.

"Now Eugenie has had a baby, there has been talk that Sarah is back in Melides to help her with the new little one."

Ms Ferguson has hidden from the spotlight following fresh revelations linking her to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein in files released by the United States Department of Justice.

Speaking to the Evening Standard on March 7, 2011, the former Duchess of York expressed deep regret over her association with Epstein.

"I abhor paedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf," she said, after it emerged she had accepted roughly £15,000 from him.

Eugenie's daughter, who has yet to be named, is 15th in line to the throne behind two older brothers, August, five, and Ernest, three.

She has become just the third member of the British Royal Family to be born on foreign soil in over a hundred years, joining Princess Lilibet, born in California, and Maud Windsor, in Los Angeles.

Eugenie and Jack moved to Portugal in 2022, with the family now splitting their time between the sun-soaked European coast and the hustle and bustle of London.

Speaking to Hello, Eugenie previously revealed that the children "love swimming."

"The sea in Portugal is a little bit rougher," she said. "So we've got our feet in, but Augie is a fish. He literally loves it, and we have whales and dolphins all across the walls."

She added: "Portugal is the dream because I can go to the supermarket in my exercise gear and my hair piled on my head and not mind. Not care. No one cares."
