You could see twice as many phones for sale next year, and that's not all
British startup Nothing is preparing to release twice as many phones next year, the company confirmed.
The firm has put out three handsets this year — the Nothing Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, and Phone (4b). That means we could be looking at up to six new phones landing next year.
Nothing's co-founder Akis Evangelidis told Times Now: "It's still too early to discuss individual products, but I can say we've launched three smartphones this year, and we're looking to launch twice that number next year.
This comes as Nothing's founder recently confirmed that prices will rise this year.
And a recent report claimed Nothing was shifting its focus away from smartphones and towards an Artificial Intelligence (AI)- first strategy included in products like smartwatches, earbuds, headphones, and speakers.
The company hasn't directly addressed the AI pivot report, but the co-founder did confirm that Nothing now has separate business units dedicated to audio and AI-native products.
For instance, the audio side of the business — like the Headphone (a) — has been growing strongly this year, according to Mr Evangelidis, and the company is treating it as its own distinct focus alongside phones.
But there's a big cloud hanging over all of this — the global RAM crisis. Memory prices have shot up dramatically, and that's already had real consequences for Nothing.
The culprit is the massive boom in AI, with data centres gobbling up memory supplies faster than manufacturers can make them.
The company was forced to scrap the CMF Phone 3 Pro, its budget-friendly sub-brand handset, because the rising cost of components made it unviable. And it wasn't an early decision, either.
"We pulled the plug quite late," Mr Evangelidis said. "We're looking at different ways of how we could make it happen for next year. But that's still in consideration. We're staying close to how the memory price will evolve."
Nothing isn't the only company to face this either. Apple recently increased its prices across several of its iPads and MacBooks. Sony also raised the costs of its PlayStation 5 consoles.
Despite the uncertainty around its CMF line, Mr Evangelidis said Nothing's plans to double its phone lineup are "pretty much set." The company is also targeting a 50% jump in sales volumes next year compared to 2026.
India is a massive part of that push. Nothing opened its first exclusive store in Bengaluru earlier this year and is now planning two more by early 2027, with Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad all being considered.
And the year isn't over yet. Mr Evangelidis confirmed more product launches are still coming in the third quarter of 2026, though he kept quiet on exactly what they'll be.
It's worth noting, though, that Nothing still has a long way to go. According to Counterpoint Research, the company remains well behind Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo globally.
