Netflix's last price hike took effect in the UK in February 2025
Netflix has once again bumped up the prices of its subscription plans in the US. The streaming giant quietly updated its pricing page, and the changes take effect immediately for anyone signing up for a new plan.
The company told TechCrunch the price hike correlates directly with its improvement plans for its "wide range of entertainment."
This isn't the first time Netflix has asked you to dig a bit deeper into your pockets recently. The company last raised its prices back in January 2025, making this the second hike in just over a year.
And while there haven't been any confirmations that the platform will extend these hikes to other countries, history indicates the UK won't be able to avoid them for long.
Shortly after the price increase for the US took effect last January, the UK experienced its own hike nearly a month later. Before that, the US and the UK both experienced higher costs in October 2023.

The company said in a statement: "We continue offering a range of prices and plans to meet a variety of needs."
If you're already a subscriber, Netflix won't hit you with the new rates all at once. Instead, the increases will roll out gradually over the coming weeks and months.
The company also confirmed it will send you an email a full month before the higher price kicks in on your account, giving you time to decide whether to stick around.
Several other services have also made alterations to their subscription services recently. Amazon wants you to pay more for Prime Video with a new tier called Prime Video Ultra. Similarly, Disney+ increased prices last October.
There's also been quite the shake-up in how popular platforms will continue to operate.
After HBO Max just launched in the UK, it's also set to be merged with Paramount+ to create one mega streaming platform.
