Their bite-sized format makes them ideal for sharing, although they were surprisingly easy to keep nibbling long after the tasting should have ended. It ranked as the favourite among testers and a definite must-buy.

These miniature Spanish-style cured sausages are rich, savoury and lightly peppery. The bite-sized treat was one of the easiest items to keep returning to throughout the tasting, making it a natural fit for any grazing board.

M&S Turkish Grilled Pepperoncini, £4

Smoky from the grill and carrying just enough heat to keep things interesting, these peppers add a welcome burst of flavour among the richer snacks. If you don't like spice, these are not for you. Those who enjoy a bit of heat will find they work particularly well alongside cheese and cured meats.

M&S Greek Style Bean Pot, £4

This colourful mix of beans, feta and olives made the perfect side dish that was fresh and satisfying. The herb dressing ties everything together well, making this one of the more balanced options in the range.

M&S Creamy Greek Dip, £4

Smooth, tangy and pleasantly cooling, this dip offers a lighter contrast to some of the bolder flavours elsewhere in the collection. It had a mild flavour that made it a crowd-pleaser with all testers, especially when paired well with pitta chips.

M&S Topped Chicken Tikka Dip, £4

Following on from the success of M&S's other topped dips comes the Chicken Tikka Dip. Testers described it as delivering plenty of flavour, with warming tikka spices layered over a creamy base. It feels more substantial than a standard dip and could even be used as a centrepiece.

M&S Topped Mezze Dip, £4

The Mediterranean-inspired dip is a great vegetarian option with plenty of flavour and texture. It brings the feel of a deli counter straight to the party table.

M&S Flip Dip Red Pepper & Cream Cheese Dip, £4

The combination of sweet roasted pepper and rich cream cheese works exactly as you'd hope. Creamy, indulgent and easy to pair with almost any dipper, this is one of the safer bets in the range.

M&S Flip Dip Basil Dip with Pesto Drizzle, £4

Fresh basil flavours are evident in this dip, with the pesto drizzle adding an extra layer of richness. Light enough for summer entertaining but indulgent enough for a cosy night in, it's a versatile addition to the line-up. Testers found this also worked well mixed in to make a sauce on a pasta dish.

Inspired by classic deli flavours, this spread is smooth, savoury and satisfyingly creamy. It can be spread on a bagel, but it also works well next to crisps and crackers, offering a simple but effective addition to a picky bits spread.

M&S Ultimate Dipper Zingy Salsa Tortilla, £4.50

These sturdy tortilla chips are clearly designed with dipping in mind. They have a good salsa flavour that adds to, but doesn't overpower, the dips. They are thick enough to hold heavy toppings such as the Topped Dips, but can also be enjoyed straight from the bag.

With so many new dips available this year, a good selection of crisps is a must. These were crisp and well-seasoned, and offered something a bit different, made from authentic pitta bread.

This adds a bit more substance to any picky bit spread. The classic Spanish tapas dish delivers plenty of flavour thanks to its smoky, spicy sauce. Hearty and satisfying, guests are sure to be reaching for these first.

The range of Spanish-inspired dishes continued with this tortilla. It combined smoky chorizo with melting cheese to create an indulgent option bursting with flavour. It was a rich and filling addition to the usual snacky foods.

This selection of meats and cheese is essential for any spread, and M&S offers this in a ready-made pack. The chilli cheddar had a pleasant kick, and the chorizo complemented it perfectly.
