The Co-Operative Bank's account switching offer is coming to an end

Britons have hours left to win a free £200 under a soon-to-be-gone account switch deal with a popular high street bank.

Today marks the final opportunity for customers to take advantage of The Co-operative Bank's summer switching promotion, which closes this evening after running throughout the warmer months.

The deal offers newcomers as much as £200 when they transfer their current account to the bank, making it one of the most attractive incentives currently available on the market.

Those wishing to claim the reward can switch to either the bank's Standard Current Account or its Everyday Extra package, with the full payout comprising an immediate £125 lump sum followed by three consecutive monthly payments of £25, provided the account is actively used.

The switching promotion sits alongside a significant overhaul of the bank's Everyday Extra account, which has been repositioned as a family-friendly packaged banking product.

Its monthly fee has been cut from £18 to £12, while the benefits included are valued at more than £640.

The revamped package provides travel and mobile phone insurance covering all members of the customer's household, offering particular appeal to families seeking comprehensive protection.

Breakdown cover for the UK and Europe is also bundled in, with the added flexibility of applying even when the policyholder is travelling as a passenger in another person's vehicle.

Beyond the switching bonus, The Co-operative Bank has scrapped its 2.75 per cent foreign transaction charge on debit card purchases abroad, a change now applied as standard across its entire current account range.

Savers also stand to benefit, with current account holders gaining access to a Regular Saver paying seven per cent gross/AER variable, among the most competitive rates on the market.

The account can be opened with just £1, and customers may deposit up to £250 each month, potentially earning as much as £114 in interest over the twelve-month term.

Kat Robinson, the head of Family and Everyday Banking at The Co-operative Bank, said: "It's time to bring our summer of switching to a close but there are still a few days left to take advantage of the offer."

She added: "We want to help people make the most of their money, which is why we paired our switching incentive with a range of improvements across our current accounts, including fee-free debit card spending overseas and access to our competitive Regular Saver account."

Ms Robinson stressed that while the enhanced account features are permanent additions, the £200 switching incentive will not be available beyond today's deadline.

Those looking to take advantage of this deal have until the end of today, September 7, to do so.
