The 23-year-old's involvement is this summer's showpiece event is shrouded in uncertainty

Emma Raducanu has raised fresh concerns over her fitness ahead of Wimbledon after requiring treatment during a practice session at the All England Club.

The British No 1 returned to the practice courts on Saturday for the first time since Monday as she continues to manage a lower leg issue that has troubled her since reaching the final at Queen's earlier this month.

Raducanu had not appeared on Wimbledon's official practice schedule throughout the week and was seen leaving the grounds wearing a protective boot on her right foot on Wednesday evening.

While that did not necessarily mean she had stopped practising altogether, her return to the court will do little to ease fears over her physical condition.

The 23-year-old trained alongside coach Andrew Richardson, hitting partner Alexis Canter, former coach and close friend Jane O'Donoghue, and physiotherapist Emma Stewart.

Raducanu struck the ball cleanly throughout the session and showed flashes of the form that helped her enjoy a strong grass-court campaign.

However, she did not appear to move with complete freedom and at times seemed reluctant to bend fully when chasing down shots.

Midway through the practice, Raducanu sat down courtside and received treatment from Stewart before resuming her workout.

The former US Open champion enjoyed an encouraging return to form at the HSBC Championships at Queen's Club earlier this month, reaching the final before losing 6-0, 7-6 to Donna Vekic.

She admitted afterwards that she had been carrying minor problems for several weeks.

"I have just been dealing with a few niggles over the past few weeks," Raducanu said following the defeat.

The injury concerns prompted her withdrawal from the Nottingham Open, while she also turned down the chance to accept a wildcard into this week's Eastbourne Open.

Raducanu's 2026 season has already been heavily disrupted, with illness causing as many problems as injuries.

Before her run to the Queen's final, she had played just 16 matches this year.

Nevertheless, her impressive performances in west London and the decision to reunite with Richardson, the coach who guided her to her stunning US Open triumph in 2021, had fuelled optimism heading into Wimbledon.

With the Championships now rapidly approaching, Raducanu and her team will be hoping there are no further setbacks as she looks to build on her recent resurgence.
