Krispy Kreme recalls two doughnut products that could trigger serious allergic reactions

The recall presents a serious health concern for consumers with nut allergies, who could suffer adverse reactions if they unknowingly consume the affected products.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an allergy alert in response to the labelling failure, urging affected customers to avoid eating the doughnuts.

The affected products carry best-before dates of 21 and 22 June 2026, meaning some may still be in consumers' possession today.

Only items sold through outlets supplied by Krispy Kreme's Peterborough manufacturing facility are subject to the recall, with doughnuts from other company locations remaining unaffected.

A Krispy Kreme spokesperson said: “As a result of an isolated issue in our supply chain, we have recalled our limited-time Pitch Perfect Doughnut from certain locations because it may contain hazelnuts which are not declared on the packaging or at point of sale.

“We take our responsibilities to consumers extremely seriously, and we apologise for this issue.”

Customers who have purchased either product and suffer from a hazelnut allergy are strongly advised not to consume them under any circumstances.

Those affected may return the doughnuts to the store where they were originally bought and will receive a complete refund, regardless of whether they still have their receipt.

The 2024 PAFA report found that tree nuts, including hazelnuts, walnuts and almonds, rank among the most common triggers for allergic reactions.

According to NHS guidance, symptoms typically manifest within 30 minutes of exposure and can affect multiple body systems.

Reactions may include skin complaints such as hives and swelling, respiratory difficulties including wheezing and throat tightness, gastrointestinal distress, and in severe cases, circulatory problems causing dizziness or fainting.
